Nankathai (Sindhi Shortbread Cookies)

Buttery Buttery Melt in Your Mouth Kind of Cookies


1 Cup plain flour

1/3rd Cup oil

1/3rd Cup powdered sugar

1/4th Teaspoon baking powder

1/4th Teaspoon cardamom powder

Pistachio Powder for garnish (optional)


Preheat oven to 190 degrees C

Line oven tray with aluminum foil

Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl

Add oil (little at a time) to form a soft dough

Take a small portion of dough in your palm and press it to form a small disc

Make a plus (+) sign on top

Place all these discs on tray

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until nankhatais turn golden brown in color

Take out from oven and let them cook completely

Can store them in an airtight jar for 3-4 weeks
